Installation Costs? How much did you pay...
Hey Guys,
I finally ordered my first performance mods! CAI+SCT XCAL from Brenspeed.
And Full-header exhaust from Borla. Due to some competition i'm also on the fence of ordering some 17"take-off wheels (tires plus rims), 3.73 gears and Steeda Underdrive Pulleys.
Before i do i wanted to make sure i know what i'm getting myself into in terms of installation costs.
What would be a good rate for the installation of the above mentioned parts?

thefull exhaustisnt really cheap to get installed...most shops will charge you8-10 hours labor to install
i got JBA full exhaust back in early 05 and paid $1700 for everything installed plus dyno tune but they cut me a hell of a deal cause my car was a guinea pig for them on headers
underdrive pulleys are gonna be around $125-150
gearswere $450 installed
hopefully you can put the intake/tune and tires on by yourself

I have an invoice from Blow By Racing which is out near my house. For installation of the SCT XCal 3, CAI, and Underdrive Pulleys he would charge a total of 2 hours of labor which is rated at $160.00. So he charges $80.00 an hour.
For installation of a Catted Hi Flow X-pipe he would charge me 1.25 hours of labor which is $100.00

I had my UDP installed for $90. The only reason why I had to have it installed by a shop was because my compressor/impact gun couldn't get the crank bolt off. Plus I'm weak and couldn't get it off with a breaker bar either.

dschmink, looks like you got a pretty good deal compared to everyone else who's replied, but now you rang another bell, i take it from your post, gears are hard to install?... there is no ford dealer where i'm from (in the entirecountry), let alone a ford specialist, just some really handy mechanics, i haven't modded any car before, should i take that chance and trust my mechanic with the gears anyway?...
mac10chap, 8-9 hours for the full exhaust set-up seems rather long, is it normal? Some time ago i watched guys replace the exhaust in just 12 minutes on some tvshow (think it was overhaulin'), then again that was just the exhaust not the headers...
hmm.. if it's gonna cost me $1700+ the other mods are probably gonna have to wait, i've already spoken to my mechanic, but he doesn't want to give me an estimate yet, because he doesnt know the difficulty level (this 'll be the first stang he's worked on), so i have to wait untill i get the parts before he tells me his rates.. i'm hoping it won't be as much as you guys paid, having cheap labor here and all...(keeping my fingers crossed)
