Wierd track experience... any similarities?
I just ran the car yesterday at the track. I am usually able to run in the 12.80's range fairly consistantly. However, yesterday was different. I recently installed the spydershaft. I wanted to see how my times would improve. I ended up running a 13.3 three times in a row on the Bama race tune (93 oct). There was one problem other than the slower time, the car would pause before shifting into third gear. There would literally be a pause for about less than a second where the RPM's will drop and create a "bogging out" effect but then kick right back in... I parked the car, let it cool off, and just for $h!t$ and giggles, I retuned the car with the performance tune (93 oct) and ran. It didnt make the bogging out effect at all. I switched the tune back to 93 race but the weather got bad. However, leaving the exit of the track, I floored the car from a stop as if I were racing down the track (just on the street) and the car didnt bog out at all wen shifting into any of the gears.
There wierd thing is that even with the performance tune, I still ran a 13.3, which is the same time I ran when the car bogged out before third... The weather was very hot, 85-90 degree weather. I blame the slow time on the heat. I nailed a 12.84 at the same track but it was also the first day they opened in April, a lot cooler air.But I am still worried about what caused my car to shift like this...
It has never done that to me in the past.
Any help would be awesome, maybe some have even encountered similar problems?

My car has been running like crap at the track lately too. I haven't been able to crack the 12s again, even with the new spydershaft and lightweight flywheel. 90+ temps in florida have been killing my trap speeds. I'd be happy to trap a 106 right now, in good fall weather, I was hitting over 108.

Alright, so I am assuming my higher time is due to the hot a$$ weather...
But the shifting... any idea? automatics dont bog at WOT, atleast they arent supposed to... right?

It's the weather man... heat kills time. Plus, in the ECU, the timing gets WAY retarded anytime that the ambient air temp is above 90 degrees.
As for the shifting... could be alot of things... heat, low trans fluid, overheated trans...

I live in AZ and I can tell you that my stock auto GT drives with two different personalities. In the morning when it's still low to mid-80's (summer time sucks here) vs late afternoon when it's 110.
In the AM the shifts are snappy and the engines just cruises right up to redline, even after a 30 minute drive of city/highway driving.
In the PM the car is fine for a couple minutes but as soon as it gets to temp, if I womp on it, I can feel the car retarding the timing and theconverterjust bleeding the torque off (slipping).
You should switch your tranny fluid if you haven't already and maybe consider doing a Level 10 upgrade on your tranny. The bands in the stock Auto are not made for pushing down the 1/4 very often especially if you use DR, slicks, or have a power adder that is pushing 475+ at the flywheel.

good call. thanks for the advise. I am really just worried about why the hell my car was shifting wierd.
I know my time is slow because of the heat, but the tranny, I dont know. I might try switching fluids to see if it is any better.

Come to Tucson!!! 110 degrees + 3,000 ft. elevation = my car feels like a civic with the air conditioning on. I went to the track here a couple nights ago and my best run was 13.9 @ 102. I run 12.8's @ 107+ in cali in cold weather at sea level. I can't wait to go back.
