Re-tune for a new exhaust?
Hell everybody,
I'm newwhen it comes tomodding cars,so please bare with me, but I would like to know if installing a new exhaust on our mustangs requires a retune, just as one is required for a CAI? The only mod my GT hasright noware the Ford Racing GTA Axle-backs. Everythingelse is stock. They look and sound great, but from what I have read, they provide no performance benefits. So when getting a tune for my GT (which I will be doing soon), should I take into consideration these new axle-backs, or should I just treat themjust as I would the stock mufflers, since they're pretty much just for sound and looks?
I have been hearing a slight pinging in my carfor whichI have taken it to the dealership twice, just to be given a lame explanation of the noise. I am pretty sure I heardit before with the stock exhaust as well, but was wondering if it could possibly be related in any way to these new axelbacks (maybe more air entering the engine?). Any info will be appreciated

RE: Re-tune for a new exhaust?
No tune needed for axlebacks and catbacks.
The axlebacks will do nothing that would cause your engine to ping. And, no, no more air entering the engine.Have you tried a different gas station/brand? 89 octane?

RE: Re-tune for a new exhaust?
Your tuner would consider your gtas the same as stock for his tune. When you order your tune, just put in the list of your specs, gts axlebacks anyway. No pinging from the axlebacks. You probably got a batch of bad fuel. Try a new station. Good luck on picking the new cai and tunes.

No. The stangs OEM exhaust is free flowing enough
from the factory that most upgrades are more for
Exhaust note tone and not as much for performance.
In other words, from the O2 sensors/cats back the
PCM sees little or no difference from the engine
management sensors.
