ok guys it appearss fixed!! there was a space between the front and a rear shields on the body deflecting exhaust heat heat thru this space to the floor board.
he installed 2 adhesive backed insulator pads(dealer part # 5W7Z-5401688-E kit)to the bare areas. i picked it up and drove for a couple hours.NO MORE HEAT ON MY LEGS!!!!!
i hope this will help you all with the same problem.

RE: excessive heat on drivers legs
I've noticed this ever since the car was new. The more I've worked on the car the more I've found out how it's just a shell with lack of insulation and noise reduction. That would be one of my minor complaints on the car.

RE: excessive heat on drivers legs
hey guys if you look under the drivers and pass side floorboards you will see why everyone's feet get hot. those damn cats are right under us in these cars. i still hate it on hot days. makes the interior of the car get real hot, esp my feet. my gr loves being outside the car after it has been running awhile. gets her cold self nice and toasty warm. lol
i've just had to get used to it. wish there was a way to put a bigger heat shield around them. and if anyone has figured away to help this i would love to know.

It's normal, it's from the catalytic converters. Look under the car, the converters are right up against the footwells. You want to fix the problem? Get an O/R midpipe.[8D]

update: i took my car in this morning, but drove it for about an hour to get in hotbefore dropping it off. as usual, it was hot to the touch. i had the service manager reach down and touch it, and he agreed that it was too hot. they were going to call ford HQ to see if there weresimmilar issues being reported by others.will get back to you all with further details as they come to me....
