Default stupid newb question...delete plates?

i've been searching for this for the last couple of days and haven't found anything to explain it. a lot of the posts about gaining power with under drive pulleys and driveshafts and such also mention CM delete plates. What is that? I'll probably feel stupid after hearing the answer, but thanks anyway!

Yea, whats up with the non functioning Thumbnails as well.
A wealth of info and no search function. What a waste of
a good mustang forum.
