Default Crank case breather?

Hey all:

quick question.
I was cleaning the C&L intake today and realized that i think there is a PCV tube that conects from the left of the crank case to the left side inlet of the C&L intake..

do you guys actually hook this up, or do you leave it of and put crank case breathers to avoid sending dirty air from the crank case back into the intake to be burned by the engine.

is this tube even what i think it is?

what do you guys do?
