Default LT headers - noob questions

I'm confused about LT headers.

What is the difference between "headers" and an exhaust manifold? Are they essentially the same thing?

Also, I have an axle back right now. If I were to install LT headers how would that effect my axle back? What if I had an aftermarket midpipe?

Longtubes must be matched with a shorty mid-pipe, usually from the same company. (the stock wouldn't fit)
Your overaxle pipes and axlebacks stay where they are they don't change.

Long Tube (or shorty) Headers are replacements for the stock exhaust manifolds - so at a high level they are the same thing. The difference generally is manifolds are cast iron, short and usually don't have equal length 'tubes'. Headers are bent tubing, longer and the best have equal length tubes.

Your current axle-backs would be compatible with any aftermarket LTs - they will probably be louder though. Mid-pipes and Headers need to match up, i.e. they need to be compatible, they are usually bought as a set. You can have any mid-pipe custom fit to match any header though (chopping and welding).

Thanks for the response this explains why I was told I can't just buy a pypes h pipe and then expect it to work with JBA headers down the road.

How is this kit? Good?

Yeah I was figuring nearly $2000 with labor on the installation. Not exactly a cheap mod.

The kooks LT's is one of the best - if not the best out there.
And I just knew they come with a catted H, I thought all they had was X. I'm getting that for sure down the road.

But...

Is the one brenspeed is offering Ceramic Coated?
