hey everybody, dont drive the car too much so havent done this in a while, going to change my oil this afternoon and can't remember how much to put in. used the search function but didnt get very far. surfed the web for a little bit and found on yahoo to add 6 qts. dont really trust yahooanswers though.... I bought a box of twelve quarts and have 6 left so im guessing its six but i want to make sure!! Last time I had a dealer change the oil they didnt put enough in so Im not calling the dealers around here to ask!!

thanks a lot. So what do u guys think I should do about the whole situation where the dealer only put 5 quarts in because the tech "Thought it was the V6" . I got the car home and let it sit in the garage, checked the oil after about 2 hours and didnt read on the stick, checked it again an hour later, called up the dealer and asked them. They said oh bla bla bla, our tech didnt put enough oil in. SO i drove the car 8 miles home with NOT ENOUGH OIL IN IT ?!? They came out and put another quart in, and gave me a free oil change coupon. Turns out this dealer goes out of business this same summer. So should I get ahold of ford on this or what should i do???

You can get synthetic oil and a good filter at your local Walmart or autozone.

I have a Subaru as my DD and can't the the bottom brush pan off without a lift, they don't sell the oil filter or rear windshield wiper anywhere except the dealer.[:@] ~ end of rant. [8D]

You will be OK as long as the oil light didnt come on.
Did they change the filter as well?
Wasthe new filterprefilled with oil before installation?
The filter holds almost a quart of oil by itself.
I hada stealership put 5W-20 in my V6 that takes 5W-30.
I could ever get anything but voicemail when I called the
dealership to complain and they would not return my many calls.

Running a quart low won't damage the engine unless you do something really insane with it.

I think 1 quart low wont hurt your engine as long as you aren't always running it 1 quart low.. my old 2000 grand am had some goofy problem where I didn't see it burning oil or dripping oil but after 3 months of driving it was always empty on oil(wouldn't even read on the dipstick).. sometimes I'd fill it before the oil change sometimes i wouldnt I drove the car for 5 years like that without any problems.. till a drunk driver hit me and totalled it a year and a half ago..

I'm sure the constant low oil on the engine was probably a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode anyway.. so I was kinda happy with the little accident

exactly. they forgot to put a quart in my prelude and I drove it around for 5k miles.
