Default Grinding noise from brakes while driving

So installed some slotted rotors and some Hawk performance brake pads on friday. I have been doing a whole bunch of research on here just to make sure I didn't mess things up. I followed the directions exactelyto brake them in and everything. The thing is i've already put about 200 miles on these new rotors and pads and there is a grinding noise coming from the front left rotor when I'm not touching the brake at all. Should I be worried that I put the pad in wrong or is this normal and it will do that for a while? If I lightly touch the brakes the sound continues until I step on the brakes a little harder and it stops.

Sounds like you lost a retaining spring.

I dont think its one of the retaining springs, its not very loud. The only time I can here it is if I have a jersey barrier to the left of my car and the sound bounces of the wall and back to my ear. It sounds like a metal on metal thing, but its not constant. It a clicking, like theres a rough spot on the rotor or something. I'm going to take the wheel off and look at it tomorrow, I really hope my brand new rotors and pads aren't fuked.

Wait do you think it could be my alinement. I changed my springs out last week and did want to get it checked until after I did my brakes. Could that be it?

Doubt it's an alignment issue. Certainly sounds like something is loose. I would start by just checking that all the bolts are tight, including even the lugs.

So I checked it out today with a mech and he said the it is a high point on one of the slots on the rotor. Does anyone strongly advise against taking some kind of tool to eliminate the high point? Maybe a fine grinder followed by a polisher?

A high point on your rotors? Attempting to grind them down yourself would be very risky. Even the slightest imperfection can cause irregularities. Try calling the company you bought the rotors from and see what they can do for you. Brakes should not be making any noise at all unless you are applying pressure.
