Default Serpentine Belt Tensioner

I am going to be installing a new serpentine belt (PS bypass) and was wondering how to loosen the tesion on it. DO I just pry on the tensioner itself?

Thanks for the help

There should be a place to insert a 1/2" drive ratchet on the tensioner
arm to release the tension.

lol, I had a feeling 157 would reply with a link.

The first line has me wondering
Using a suitable belt tensioner release tool
What is a suitable belt tensioner release tool? A crowbar?

Thanks, I saw that on the tensioner but wanted to make sure that's what it was for.

Beaker bar? Is that anything like a graduated cylinder hammer?

breaker bar: it is a long 1/2" drive socket wrench. It allows you to use the long wrench to apply leverage.
(You never heard of a breaker bar? Do you own any mechanical tools)

Yeah, Iown a few. I know what a "breaker bar" is. If you look at your post you misspelled "breaker" and spelled it "beaker". I thought that was funny so I ran with it.

Just because I asked how to do a simple procedure doesn't mean I don't have tools. I've never had to replace a serpentine belt. The last car I replaced a belt on was my 66 Plymouth and it didn't have a serpentine belt. Belt tension was adjusted completely differently.
