JBA Shorty Headers- Dyno Results
#31
A technical representatative at JBA confessed to me that all shorty headers (equal and unequal length) are winthin 1 hp of one another. There was also no real difference in torque gains either. With this in mind, I purchased the BBK shorties. They are priced much cheaper than the JBAs. The owner of a Mustang only aftermarket shop showed me some new, in the box, JBA silver ceramic shorties, and there was rust on the flanges! JBA uses carbonized steel for their flanges and T409 for the rest of the header. Both these materials are not rust-proof. After seeing this, I got the BBks. Although they are made of mild steel, if they rust, at least I spent less money. Meanwhile, they work well for a street car, because of the low-end torque gains

Definitely edgier and louder - I noticed it right when I cranked it up after the install - if one has stock mufflers they may not notice much change. I put them back on temporarily a couple months after the install. Super loud when started first thing in the morning.
With the Steeda CAI / JBA Shorties / Flowmaster axle back it sounds loud (especially at WOT) with 0 resonance/drone.

wow, those are some really nice low-end gains. i didn't think those headers would make that much of a difference. did you go from not having a custom tune to having one or something? if not, i see a set of shorties in my future

I got a set of the bbk shorties. I can't really compare to before and after cuz i did a pi swap with them. I will say other then the shorties that is the only exhaust modification i have done so far and I love the way it sounds. I agree with who ever said it sounds like the old school V8's. I would say that i do have a large amount of power in the low end and middle which is fantastic for the way I drive and the way the car is geared.
