OEM Charge Motion Plates Modification

OEM Charge Motion Plates Modification
Question: Why couldn't I just cut off the butterflies on the OEM Charge Motion Plates to get the airflow that we want using the delete plates?
I have only seen pics of the modifications, never taken the manifold out to take a look at the plates myself, so I have to ask.
Yes, I'm cheap, but I would be surprised if I'm the first guy that thought about this. Maybe there is a good reason why it wouldn't be done, so I am hoping someone willenlighten me.
Thanks

RE: OEM Charge Motion Plates Modification
a couple of people have done that. you can cut out the butterflies and then weld the holes shut and it would achive a very similar mod and probably yield the same gains. I am not sure if there was anything else that needed to be done or not. Long time since i read the thread that was over at TMS.
I was able to find it easily

If you can weld then it might be worth a shot for you

Heh, if you're good at welding you could probably make some nice cash buying used CMCV plates and modifying them into delete plates. That is until Steeda catches wind and sues you.
