thats a pretty cheap cam install price.. very surprising.. a lot of people were saying most shops charge around $1000
Its only low since there is no springs or phasers being installed. The $1000 is more accurate if you are doing a typical spring/phaser replacement also.

I agree....i havent seen any good dynos for power yet. LocalDJ is one of few that have gotten dyno results and his dont look impressive yet. Hopefully there is still tweaking or something for his ride.

Brenspeeds/comp cams NSR have had much better results in the way of power gains. They dont have near as much sound though

Didnt Doug say he was able to get 17 out of his car that he developed the tune through? And, 303 to the wheels is what a lot of guys push out with justfull exhaust/intake... with higher torque numbers sometimes...

Exactly....that is why i think the tuning is critical with them. He should be upwards of 320 IMO with all that he has on his car. I would rather sink 2K into SPR stage 1 or 2 and get 30-40 HP and keep my low end torq and HP than to put something in for 1300 or so gain under 20HP and feel the lose of power when i am off to the grocery store or headed to work.

Just a difference in what you want out of your car maybe. But i still want to see other results from the FRPP cams from others before i say they are a good or bad mod.

17 HP gain is what I had been told as an average without the ported heads. With ported heads I was told to expect closer to the 50 mark. Was trying to find the email where I was told that, but regardless seems about par.

Again, for me... I am from the old days when I could sit and just enjoy the sound of a good cam. So for me, the sound was worth a lot. I will tell you guys this... this lope is enough that the whole car visibly rocks some at stop lights and at very low speeds through our neighborhood rear house entry alleys, it is difficult to maintain at almost an idle in 1st - wants to buck some.

I just want to see more results... 50 rwhp out of hot rods and port/polished heads seems a bit off par based on what I have seen so far. Do you know is jmoose ever posted his results?

IMO I would never pay for 750 bucks for 17 rwhp, thats not even including the install. I'm going to the shop today to get my cams install (comp cam VSR stage 3 blower cams), and if I don't see AT LEAST 30 rwhp then I'm going to be pissed, because thats what i've been told I'll get by comp cam and the guy thats putting them in. I know there wont be anything I can do about it so I probably just go burn my tires off. For what I'm paying for parts and labor, if I only get 30 rwhp, I'm paying $66.66 for each rwhp. Petty expensive when you compare it to a S/Cer.
