Default Pinging??

I need some help here.

On the way home from work when I was getting on the freeway I noticed what I *think* was some pinging happening. I say think because I am honestly not sure at all. My drivetrain has always been noisy, but it was noticeable this time. To be fair it was probably in the high 90s today, and the noise only became noticeable when I was WOT. I have shell 87 in the tank.

I am assuming this is pinging, so I am gonna stick some 92 in there tomorrow. Does anybody have some links to some vids that show mustangs pinging? I have checked youtube but nothing has hit yet.

Thanks

Haven't seen any video links, but the best way I can think to describe pinging is like popcorn going off in your engine. lol I've only had it on my bikes and sleds, so I'm sure it's more muted in a car. If you get on the throttle and hear a tink-tink-tink-tink sound until you let up, there's a good chance she's a bit lean.

Probably had pinging cause of the high heat. Try gunning it at night.

Have same issue with my 07GT - So AZ very very hot in summer - once it gets past about 95 - especially if I am running AC. I run Supreme Unleaded (92) only during the summer and every 4th tank run a small bottle of "Lucas" Fuel treatment http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show
in the tank. You can get the small bottles even at Walmart in the Auto section. Since we have been doing that - have had no further issues - even when I "gun" it during the heat of the day.
