Default Mustang header bolts

Have an 06 Mustang installing BBK shorty headers. I got the headers on ebay but the guy forgot to put the header bolts in the box. I don't expect him to ship a small box of bolts, I had to wait two weeks for the headers because of customs. He did send me $20.00 to my paypal for the trouble. My problem is that I cant seem to get them local, no parts store has them listed. Any ideas???

First of all, try to reuse as much of the stock hardware as possible, it will make your life alot easier. The bolts can be purchased as Lowes Stores or most hardware stores. They are M8 thread, get the length you need, ususally 25-35mm are long enough. You should be able to use the same 13mm wrench for the bolts at Lowes as the the stockers.

Ah, I just saw you have the BBK shorty's. You only need 4-5 new bolts(2-3 on the top drivers side, and 1-2 on the top passenger side), you will be able to use the stockers for the rest. Hope this helps.

OK, but Lowes carries regular bolts which have larger heads that header bolts. Is there room for these regular bolts and would I use lock washers or maybe some loctite.

thanks for all the help, will be going to Lowes tomorrow. Just one more thing, what about the collector studs for the headers?

Lowes for stang hardware? Not this again.
I would not like to be the future owner of that stang.
It was not a fluke that the seller didnt ship the hardware
as indicated by the paypal 'refund' of $20. He does not have
hardware for the headers and never did. He was hoping you
would not whine about it. But you did and he refunded $20.
How nice of him. Why didnt he sent the hardware after you
complained, because he never had it to send. Typical eBay
Bait-n-Switch. Describe the complete kit then ship what
you actually have.
Buy the proper hardware and dont cheap out or you will have
leaky headers down the line.

The bolts that come with the BBKs are worse then the stockers IMO. The are a 10mm head and harder to get the proper torque. The ones from Lowes have been on my car for months now with no issues. Don't use any soer of lock washer on them, as the heat will make them useless within 5 minutes and the bolts will come loose.

You can shop around for a while to try and find "locking header bolts" but they may be difficult to find for our cars. Try online but again, I've had noissues with mine.

For the collector bolts, just get some SS hex bolts from the Hardware store and use flat washers on both ends. Tighten them with a 1/2" impact wrench if you have one.
