A used 06 will not drive like a new 09 off the lot since there were some slight suspension and frame changes

I guess torque isn't important to you as unless you are running the rotary above 7K it will poke around like a prius

While the 3V is not a torque monster like the old 2V, I think at idle it is making more torque than the RX-8 at peak.

RX-8 -> Buzzcutter
V8 Mustang -> What a car should sound like, nuff said.

Rotary reliability? They are know to chug about as much oil as a diesel sometimes... "that's when you rebuild it" Right... Gen 3 owners are happy if they beat 60k... Don't know about the gen IV... but it's missing some of that Gen 3 flair... not to mention the lack of a turbo...

There is a guy on these forums that has his V8 stang way past 100k and still going strong without big issues. I feel it's how you use it... Are your drives going to warm up the engine to optimal temperature or are you at your destination in less than 2 miles? Warm it up before you romp, or romp before warm up? I don't drive my 05 that much, only 14k miles still, had it since new. No problems yet, and I would have been pissed off if it did. IMHO a car should be worry free until you hit 60k.

IMO the Mustang is a great car, I've had no problems that were caused because of reliability....only my own driving

Oh, I'm getting the Mustang without a doubt. The RX-8 was nothing but a MAJOR disappointment. I thought it would be better than the RX-7.

The Mustang is what I want, it's true that I can get a new 08 for less than 25k? I spoke to a guy on the lot that just bought an 08 for 25k. I was shocked. I found one for sale on craigslist, but hes asking 20k for an 06. And he's firm on that. I'll post a link:

Personally I wouldn't pay that for an 06 since it is basically stock. The Shaker 1000 does put it a little higher, but last time I checked Kelley's blue book on mine, trade in "excellent" condition was around 17k. I would definitely opt for an 08 at 25k before an 06 at 21...PLUS you'll know how every mile was put on the 08 (assuming it's new off the lot...lots of sales now to clear the lots for the 09's).

Heck, I've got about 5k in mods (counting sound system), and would probably sell it for less than 21k...IF I was going to sell it...which I'm not =) ... just now getting ready to start on appearance mods (head lights, tail lights, striping, etc).

I am also in Texas, somewhat near Planview (if he's talking TX), and there is NO shortage of mustangs around here, on or off the lots lol ... and I have 3k less miles. I also have full leather, tinting, etc. Even if you stick with an 06, you should be able to find a better deal than that!

I could post everyday the results of surveys and testing to prove that ford is one of the most reliable vehicle manufacturers in the world but nobody believes it. as far as brands go for 3 year old cars Lexus(toyota) is number one, followed closely by mercury(ford brand), followed by mercedes, BMW, Toyota, then Ford.. chevy isn't even too far down that list.. I have seen a 5 year survey that had Ford as the number 3 after toyota and mercedes. the most common complaints on all newer vehicles is rattles and windshield fogging. engine reliability and other mechanical issues are rare in most of the higher rated companies...

brands to avoid: suzuki, saab, saturn... can't remember the others..

oh.. and mazda is 30% owned by ford anyway.. so either way you go...

No way would I give him 20K for one with that mileage. I got my 06 with 4K on it for 21750 and I've seen cars go for even better than that on autotrader. Some guy in Boise a few months back had a nice 06 premium with the 18" wheel package and 3000 miles - he was only asking 20,990.

"Josh" from New York - sorry buddy but no way.
