I use BP all the time mostly because I put it on a BP credit card and get a 5% rebate every month which is like saving .18 a gallon. I've never had a problem with it. I used to use Chevron because it has Techron in it and it ran fine with it as well. It is basically all the same stuff running throught the same pipe lines. The only difference is what additives are dumped into the tanker for when it delivers to the gas station.

Make sure that you don't get gas from a pump that has the "Contains less than 10% Ethanol" because it probably contain 9.99% Ethanol.

Try to find a station that does not have this sticker on the pumps as that gas does not have any Ethanol.

Have you tried higher octane? It may not be just BP fuel. Are you running the stock 87 tune?

I had a similar problem to this. Under quick acceleration, my engine would ping pretty badly as I passed 2k RPM. I took it into the dealership to make sure there was no engine issues, and they suggested that I run the current tank until almost bone dry and then run 2 tanks of 93 octane through it. Their reasoning was that at some point I had gotten some bad gas and apparently since I don't make it a habbit of running my tank dry, some of that bad gas was still floating around in the tank screwing with the rest of the fuel.

I do now remember getting gas once a few months back in galveston from a wal-mart pump that had the "may contain ethanol" sticker on it, so there may be some kind of truth to what the dealership said.

Anyways, I'm on the second tank of premium right now, but still running the stock 87 tune, and I haven't heard the noise since then, I also pulled the battery cable to reset the computer, so that may have been a fix as well.

I'm sure I had a point when I started writing this, but, ehh, those are my thoughts, haha.

These canned tunes did not work to well for my car. I also had ping. Try using the 91 octane tune with 93 octane.

I have used BP, no complaints. I think Chevron is the best, but no Chevron stations in my area. I recently started using Shell V-Power. The ads about keeping the valves clean is impressive.
