hey man listen to all these guys on here. we have all been driving cars for 10+ yrs. a stock gt will be just fine for you. 300hp is probably to much for a first time driver. i lost control of mine and i have been driving fast cars for yrs. good luck with the decision though. i know how you feel though i have wanted a mustang since i was 11 yrs old, almost 28 now, and i have owned 3 now. but when i was 17 and getting my first one there is no way i would have been able to handle the hp if it was s/charged. just my .02 worth though.

First of all, teenagers and GTs do not mix. Blown or not. Especially blown.

Second, having an awesome first car is not wise as well. The chance if it getting ****ed up is way too high. That's why insurance for inexperienced drivers is insane.

And last of all, having something like a GT is a very bad idea on a minimum wage job. Not only will the modding bug kill you, but general maintenance on these cars I have found to be quite expensive, not including the gas. It's been a lot worse than my previous v6. A new set of tires just cost me nearly 1K. Brakes were a few hundred. Etc, etc. Not something a minimum wage job can support. And it won't be long before you have to take over the insurance completely yourself. That will be the end of it right there. You have been warned.

I keep telling myself that I'll drive my car carefully (I'm 18 and a college freshman) but God knows that I don't. If you get a GT, that power WILL become addicting and you'll find yourself slipping from that control of sllllllooooooowwwwwlllllllyyyy getting to 60. If you have a hard-on for a V8, maybe a New Edge GT? It's slightly less powerful, but it's still decently fast...Plus it will be a bit easier on the wallet. Just my .02.

Dont do it... Dont even get a GT... Everyone crashes their first cars... It will be expensive lesson for everyone... I cant believe you mom is letting you do it. How did you even save for it being 17?
