DIY Paxton 2200 install? and some '???'
#11
Ever since GrabberCS offered her Paxton
for sale, and I couldn't catch the deal fast
enough (I was second in line), I felt the
need for a supercharger.
I've always wanted a Whipple, but the Paxton's
great price is tempting.
I want the Whipple because it's a complete
package, especially with the GT500 fuel pump.
And the whine is simply amazing.
I also like the instant torque, since all I do is
city driving and never go to the track.
But I still want a paxton, because the price is
good, and the whistle and BOV are nice!
I know I confused you more, but I'm just
writing down my thoughts...

Any person that knows anything about HP numbers will tell you that you can still have problems at 450rwhp. I'm at 430rwhp and my tuner told me to try and not bounce it off the redline too much. 450rwhp on the stock block is somewhat safe but by no means does that guarantee you will not have problems. I'm being a little harsh but thats reality...
Not like I'll be jamming on it every chance I get but do want the power when I need it.
I am also worried more about frying the converter during hard launches.
450 seems like a good number to me.

The whipple is a great complete kit. I paid $750 to have it installed, and it went perfect. Installer said the parts practically fall on the car. Not from me so dont flame, but he told me he wouldnt do another KB because of problems in the past.
A centri is a tried and true design and for the $$ I think they are a great buy.
Hate to through a wrench in the mix, but what about a turbo? Sounds like you want to have full control over the power. Lower when you want and higher when you want.
A turbo with a boost controller can give you that. You can even control it by gear and RPM I believe.
I was within minutes of ordering the Brenspeed Hellion Kit, but I decided on the whipple for reliability. I liked it was supported by Ford, FRPP, and the kit just looked more DD friendly. If it was a weekend car, or a granny tranny (j/k ) I would have gone turbo.
Good luck.
All FI is great.

Get the Paxton kit from Brenspeed and install it yourself. I installed mine in my garage in 2 days including the GT 500 fuel system. I would have had 0 issues if I hadnt had problems with my plugs, 5 out of 8 broke off. Other than that it sure feels good knowing you did it yourself.

I really want that whipple H.O. kit with 3.73s but right now I might have to just go with 4.10s and a good TC...lcas,ucas and that's it for now. I simply can't find a reliable shop in anchortown that will do it for less then $2k.
)-:
the kit + shipping +installation= right about $8-9k.
when it really should only be around $7k at the most...
