Default Flowmaster or Pypes??

I have a 2008 GT and have been researching which exhaust to go with. I have narrowed it down to the Flowmaster kit or the Pypes midmuffler SFM66 kit. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Default Flows

I have flows with a o/r h-pipe and bbk shorty headers. Sounds very muscular and has that old school 5.0 feel. Before you buy make sure you find out what will sound good with the exhuast that you pick. I was always a Flowmaster man and I set on buying the o/r x-pipe. Did some research and every magizine and internet posting and of of course the guys on this forum agreed upon one thing. Flows do not sound good with the o/r x-pipe. Every where I read was the same. Flows = h-pipe! I am so glad that I listened. Got a friend that has a 06 GT with flows and o/r xpipe, sounds good but to rapsy. Moral of story. Before you buy insure that you know what would be the best combination.

I love my Flows! They look good and sound good. Just the right volume for me. Dont hear them when I'm cruising to work. Just when I'm getting on it.

I was talking to the owner of CarFX of Tulsa a few months ago and he told me that the flowmasters tend to rattle (break welds) behind a supercharged motor. I dont know if you plan on going supercharged or not. I have flowmasters on mine and I have a drone at cruising speeds on the highway that I dont like. I plan on going to pypes when I get back home from Afghanistan. Good luck on whatever you choose.

I have Flow's American Thunder on my 07 GT. To me they are the best of both worlds...not to loud and no drone. They have a deeper sound than stock...reasonably quite until you get on it...then the really sound off.

The flows were my first exhaust and I took them off after about a week because I was so disappointed. I am now on my fourth muffler ( Pypes mid muffler ), and this will definently be my last muffler. You can't even put them in the same category IMO. You won't notice too much of a change in sound with the flows unless you add an offroad or catted pipe. The mid muffler placement makes a sound that the axlebacks just can't. Sounds pretty close to the previous 2v stangs. If you want your car slightly louder than stock get the flows. If you want a badass muscle car roar get the Pypes mid muffler..
