JLT/SCT on its way, install guide?
Hey guys, I just got a JLT/SCT Tuner from another member on this forum (hopfuly the "unlocking" process goes smoothly).
I can't see it being to hard to install this but I was just wondering if anyone knew of a guide online to install a jlt onto a s197?
Thanks guys
jv8
BTW, I CANT WAIT FOR THIS, SHOULD BE HERE SAT.

Don't know about a guide...but, be sure you use the screws for the MAF sensor that are (hopefully)provided. I believe the stock screws are too big. And also make sure you install the sensor pointing the correct way.

I too recently picked up a JLT intake and I can tell you, even for someone like myself the install was pretty painless. I have mentioned in a previous post about the one frustrating part of the install and that was trying to fit the intake tube into the rubber elbow. Its a very snug fit and likely to cause some busted knuckles if you're not careful. If you run into any issues, feel free to PM me and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

When you buy a used intake/tuner from some one else there a chance that you can't unlock it yourself and you'll have to send it to SCT for a fee of $150 bucks to unlock it. The org owner has set his car back to stock (at which mine swears he did), then you have to use software from SCT to finally unlock it. I also believe you have to have the same comp code or something along those lines at which I do believe I have.
My combo coming w/ brenspeed tunes, so "hopefully" i can use them. If i remember correctly, doesn't your shift points go from 6,000 to 6,500?
I've also installed a intake on my old car (a 3kgt) however that intake was just really a cone filter that connect to the stock inlet tube.
I look forward to this 25ish rwhp gain..

ok, thanks johnny....sounds like you know
exactly what you might run into....
it almost sounds like you plan on uploading
one of the tunes that is already on the SCT,
that would be a gamble. i may have misread
your plan though

And yes I'm trying to upload tunes from breenspeed that the previous owner had. The previous seller only had the intake/ and a exhaust. Which means breenspeed only tuned for that which is exactly what I have. I emailed and talk to dave from breenspeed who said i should be able to pull this off.
Will see...
Alloy sixxer also purchased a used intake/tuner from a seller on this forum and now has to send it to SCT because it will not unlock it self...
so either I win, or i lose, but if i lose, it will not be by much...
But back to the intake, I have no doubt ill be able to install it but I would rather look at a guide to make it go by faster

Ok, I got the tuner to unlock its self, but it turns out are strategy codes are differnt. His strategy code is FBNF1G3I and mine fbn1g3, which means I'm stock buying new tunes (at least that is what they say).
Which is fine, I don't have to send it to SCT to unlock it for $150 bucks.
I just wish the tunner would just sell two tunes, not three...
so who do u guys like bama or brenspeed?
If i had the same strategy code, I would have brenspeed for free
