Need More Basic Mods W/O Retune/ Help!
Hey guys,
I'm gonna try to keep it short. We dont have a track over here so we race on the street (legally, barriered and with police) every few months. I'm in the "all engine, 3.0liter-5.7liter class".
I'm up against; Porsche Carrera S (i think 3.8liter 6cyl), Nissan 350Z (full header exhaust setup with chiptune, Nissan 350Z (also full header exhaust, chiptuning and camshaft), Ford Thunderbird (N/A forged??).
These cars are the ones i'm worried about most.
My mod list so far:C&L intake(installed), 87oct tune (installed), borla lt headers with xpipe ( sitting in garage), borla catback exhaust(waiting for delivery), Steeda udp's (installed).
I'm also borrowing my friends wheels; 18" MB wheels on 245 federals.
The test and tune and race are 4 and 5 october. Which other best bang for a buck mods can i order and install quickly without retuning??

I'm not sure I understand when you say you don't want to retune yet you have a C&L CAI and 87 octane tune. With the C&L and the LT's (plus I assume you're 87 tune is custom or else you should be throwing CEL's), you NEED a tune so if you already have a tuner why aren't you running 93 (or higher) custom tunes? Your biggest bang-for-the-buck is the CAI & tune unless you aspirate.
The axleback won't gain you any performance but they should SOUND faster. Delete plates will gain you a few horses. You might also consider an aluminum DS and some other weight loss mods (i.e., rear seat delete, lose the spare, etc.).

+1 to 373 or 410 gears and alumnium driveshaft. Also, if your really getting into racing, then maybe some suspension stuff. LCA, UCA, Anti squat brackets. If you want to spend a little more, then look into getting a watts setup.
Once you get the l/ts on, you should notice more top end pull. Also, I would STRONGLY suggest getting a BAMACHIPS 91 or higher race tune. The throttle response is greatly improved, and even more so if you have a automatic tranny.
Good luck and smoke those Nissans!

you can order a S/Cer from brenspeed or pretty much anyone else and get an email tune sent to you (assuming that you have a tuner.) I will stick to saying that FI is the best way to get lots of hp for your money. So you can do this and never have to do tuning on a dyno. If not that then you can get gears but if you dont have a tuner to change you gear ratio then your speedo is going to be messed.
