Default Whipple + FRPP Cams - Dyno Before & After

Dyno charts added for reference.

this is just to show what to expect,
if you decide to install cams and just
want an email tune to get you safely
around, before getting dyno tuned.

------------------------------------------
first, i would like to thank brenspeed, for
coming through with a very nice starter
tune.

edit:
i should note.....i was always willing to trade
a little power for the lope. i should have made
this clear once again, to avoid any misunderstandings.

ok, back to business.....

the same dyno (dynojet), was used for before and after runs.

before cams, stock FRPP calibration
419 rwhp / 423 ft-lbs

after cams / brenspeed email tune
418 rwhp / 404 ft-lbs

keep in mind this is a starter tune, really just
designed to get a person by, until they can
get to a dyno tune.

the one thing that jumps out at me when comparing the
dyno graphs from today and before the cams, is that the
torque curve is much flatter throughout the rpm
range now.

i'll see if i can scan the sheets and if i can, i'll
add them here.

i really like the way the car feels and i may or
may not ever get a custom tune.

would i install the cams, if i had it to do all
over again? absolutely!

are these cams for everybody? no.

He lost power due to the increased overlap.

Hamm - Did you map the boost? If so did you loose any.

I would be very interested to see the sheets if you can get them up.

Loosing the torque is unfortuneate but it is possible that if you loose the cats and get a dyno tune it would all come back.

I am still waiting on some vids

I should have the perfect exhaust for these soon. Mac O/R prochamber and pypes mid mufflers

Congrats glad you are happy.

I still want these. Hamm people think we are crazy to want these on an FI, but you just cant beat that sound.

I have contemplated possible getting a custom grind done that tries to find a happy medium of lopey idle and FI.

Then go with a different cam. comp cam has cams that will give you power and a lopey idle.

Would you please take the car to the track? Borrow some drag radials if you have to.

once again, i would just like to point
out to everyone, this is an email tune
from brenspeed. in no way shape or
form, is it right on the money. how
could it be? they have no real experience with
these cams and just created a tune to get me
by.

it just so happens i'm not really that picky and
may go with it for the foreseeable future.

i do think as time passes and tuners start to get
more familiar with these cams, tunes will be
available that will be very close to nominal.

guru, i didn't map the boost, but from many WOT test
runs, i know that it peaks right at 10psi now, where
as before, it was around 10.5

everyone has different goals for their car. i have
the car of my dreams now and couldn't be happier.

Glad you are happy with result, as that is all that counts. Brent is a skilled tuner and I would bet this tune is not too far off. At least you knew what to expect as those lopey cams are sure to bleed off a little boost. I would never be happy spending that money on perfromance parts that dont gain me any power. I am more interested in actually going fast than I am in sounding like I am fast.
Glad your project worked out and you have achieved your car of your dream now.
