How Do I Reset My Fuel System? Quater tank/92miles to Empty lol
Hey Guys,
I just replaced my battery and the everything just reset.
My car wasnt driving as it should, it felt "lazy" so i returned her back to stock, drove a few blocks and then uploaded my 87 octane tune again. She got her "chirrp" back right away.
I noticed my my fuel level on my LCD screen wasnt correct, i only had a quarter tank and it said i still had 92 miles to empty. I filled her up a few times, 15liters each time (about 3 times total in 3 days). It's still messed up, i got FUEL LEVEL LOW DTE ODO DATA ERR showed up when my Xcal was connected when i was uploading the tune. Otherwise it doesn't sense the error.
How can i correct my fuel odo meter?

The code you got while uploading the tune is normal. It shouldn't persist after the tune is loaded.
92 miles to empty on a quarter tank is not that far from normal. First off, the gauges aren't that accurate so 1/4 tank = roughly 4-5 gallons. Since you possibly reset the computer by replacing the battery (depending on how long it was disconnected), the computer is going back to it's default calculation instead of using your driving history. 4-5 gallons at roughly 20 MPG would be pretty close to what you're indicating. I recently disconnected the battery, filled up and took a quick spin while hammering it for about 10 miles. I couldn't believe how high the computer was inaccurately showing my fuel mileage: 27 MPG.
Give it time to aquire data from your driving habits but I don't think it's that far off considering it may have reset to it's default calculations. Besides, we all know that the computers values are off from the more accurate hand calculations.

Do you mean the Vacuum Flourescent Display?
FUEL SYSTEM MONITOR
S197 FUEL SYSTEMS
Did you fuel up key on or key off?
It makes a big difference as to what
mode the fuel system goes into.

Haha, yes, i mean Vacuum Flourescent Display lol..
LCD was just wishful thinking i guess
I always refuel turn key off.
Thanks for your help, from the documents i've read (the ones you've posted), it seems i should reset the KAM right?

Yes, there is a Vacuum, its Flouresent in nature and its a Display of sorts.
They require about 175Volts to work and the inverters tha take 12V to 175V
often fail. A LCD on the otherhand has to be backlighted and those use EL
or ElectroLuminescent panels for that purpose.

Thats what I was thinking, untill I did the math...
14 gallon tank
1/4 tank = 3.5 gallons
3.5 x 23 mpg (what I get) = 80.5 miles to E
The computer has to be reading about 26 mpg for it to register 92 miles to E, on 3.5 gallons of fuel.
Now, remember that there could be variables through out the equation (more than 1/4 tank of gas, easy driving, ect.) So maybe it isn't THAT far off...

Vacuum eh. I just figured it was a digital readout, lol. lke an old school calculator. I knew about liquid crystal display (LCD) but thats about where the knowledge ends. Not all lcd needs a backlight, but I could be wrong. way off topic

All LCDs need a backlight or some sort of light for them to be seen.
Its the nature of the Liquid Crystals. They block light, not emit light.
And yes there is a vacuum inside the flourescent display.
