my one friend that used to be a mechanic told me that you can't clear the computer fully cuz the dealer has something that they can look back in it and see all the history and check to see if people have installed a supercharger or changed the tune or something and never said anything about it when they get cars back from a lease or whatever, even if you reset it and uninstalled the tune and disconnected the battery.. but idk if he's right or not

Personally, I dont give a flying f**k about the dealer and him determining what I did with my car. It's my car and I'll do what I want. IF and WHEN a warranty issue comes up, I'll fight that battle then. They have to prove that your mod caused the problem in order to legally deny you warranty work. Let's stop worrying about that crap and do with these cars what we bought them for... Lot's of wood.

He is wrong in the case of the 05-09 S197s.
No looking back at if and when the tune was
changed after a 20 min negative battery cable
disconnection....

Dont know about other makes or models.

WTF? It doesnot matter????
Its best to unhook the negative cable first because the vehicle is
negative ground. If you touch the wrench to the body when unhooking
the ground first, nothing happens. Unhook the positive first and accidentally
ground the wrench to the body and the battery has a chance of exploding
in your face and its not pretty.
Just had to jump in there and save someones eyesight.

The battery won't explode but the arc from dead-shorting the battery will make you THINK it did...

dude, batteries dont just explode that easily. Its like safety precaution to do negative so you minimize sparking around the battery.

as long as you have a sct x-cal the dealer only sees that the battery went dead, same codes pulled, and all the memory has been reset. i think ive heard the diablosports/predators dont have that ability. that the dealer can see that the car was re-tuned.
makes it easy when service advisor asks why battery died so much just say you park for a few weeks at a time and disconnect the battery so it doesnt drain.

so are you sure that if I return my tune to stock with sct x-cal scanner it wont show as re-tuned at dealer. Or just to be safe I should take negative out?

Get your wedding band inbetween the positive
treminal/wrench connection and ground. It
will promptly turn bright cherry red hot and
remind you everyday of what you did.
Unless you follow proper procedure and remove
the NEGATIVE cable first and replace it last when
reinstalling the battery.

They will be able to tell the last time the tune was changed.
YOU MUST REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FOR @20
MINUTES AND ALLOW THE ADAPTIVE LEARNING TO RELEARN
THE STRATGIES, then there will be No Trace of when
the tune was last modified but it will show time from
last power-up. Claim the dreaded dead battery syndrome
these S197s seem to have but I have yet to experience.
If you always have very low time on the run clock when
you take her in for service and the adaptive learning is still
learning, they might get wise but cant prove anything
warranty voiding wise. Claim dead battery, dead battery....

Removal: Negative then Positive
Application: Positive then Negative
