Car falling off in higher gears?
#13
Yeah, i got a deal on my blower it was used actually, i pulled it off another 05 mustang, and i didn't know that it had the 11psi pulley until we had it on the dyno. and once we figured that out i didn't have the dough to intercool it so.
As for tuning i can't really go to anyone better, the guy i go to is recognized as the second best mustang tuner in canada, and the best is all the way in ontario and i live on the west coast.
I was hoping to actually sell my vortech this winter and put on a Kenne Belle. Blue hard how much psi are you running to get those numbers?

My brother said the gap between second and third in the tranny's in these cars is big.
I think it just may be the jump between gears, but the car pulls really hard through 1st and second and then nothing in third, I think it may just be because im not keeping it in the peak torque rpm's
thanks alot for the help

Assuming your car has 17" tires, then you may be able to start a roll race in 2nd at speeds up to 50 mph(18"-20" tires will allow a little higher than 50 mph). This assumes your engine's torque curve does not drop off too quickly after it peaks at 4900 rpm, since 50 mph will put the rpm at approx. 5500. This should prevent the rpm's from falling too much below your engine's 4900 rpm peak torque after you upshift to 3rd at say 6250 rpm(stock redline). However, you'll need quick reflexes for the 2nd - 3rd shift. (Note: The rpm will be approx. 3500 at 50 mph in 3rd, which may result in even lower torque than 5500 rpm at 50 mph in 2nd).
But if you start a roll race at slightly higher than 50 mph, say 55-60, then that's too high for 2nd, and you'll have to start in 3rd where the rpm's will be approx. 3900 - 4300, respectively. Assuming your torque curve is not too steep, then you should have plenty of torque at 60 mph. 55 mph +/- appears to be your engine's weak spot for a roll race.
Also, if you engine was dyno tested with the Vortec, then check the chart for any dips in the torque curve, specifically in the 3000-4000 rpm range. If dips are present, then your tuner may be able to tweak the tune to eliminate them. If not, then intercooling may be a possible solution.

~8-10 psi. I do have a bigger aftercooler, resovior, and my tuner is one of the best around. My car has full bolt-ons and I'm running 60# injectors.

Actually, most centrifugal blowers make the majority of their power in the top end, and like turbos, are more peaky than a roots or screw type blower. The reason is, the impeller speed of the centrifugal is directly related to engine speed - the faster it turns, the greater the pressure differential. With a turbo charger, depending on the design of the exhaust side housing and impeller blades, the turbo can be made to "spool up" at a certain rpm not directly related to engine speed - only the amount and velocity of exhaust gases passing through the housing.
