Default Question for the cammed guys

I installed a set of comp cams thumper cams and phaser limiters in my car and now it runs terrible. The motor and the whole car shakes really bad at idle. It spits out an error code when driving P0021. Im pretty sure its not the tune, as I can load any tune and it still runs terrible. I do have a cam tune on it presently too. The timing marks were all lined up correctly when I took the phasers/cam gears out and reinstalled them. Im starting to think I have the cams in the wrong side of the motor. Ford considers the passenger side of the motor the right side and the drivers side the left side. Does anybody know if the right side comp cam goes in the drivers side of the motor and the left cam goes in the passenger side? Any ideas at all? Thanks for any advice

These types of cams are going to shake the car around a bit. So you might have to get use to that. I would say that you need to find out what the error code means and go from there. I would get a really GOOD custom dyno tune for your car because these lobey cams take alot of patice and knowledge to run right.

Here's what that code translates to

P0021 "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance

i don't think this is the case.....the cams
have different lengths and i don't think
you could have switched the left and
right cams

i believe when you first start the car, the
PCM does a full sweep of the VCT system.
maybe your tune was not been modified,
to only (retard) 20*

another posibility, is that the limiter on the
drivers side, is not allowing proper movement
of the phaser.

Where did you get the tune? If it's a Brenspeed tune then I know it's not the tune as they sell these cams and know exactly how to tune them properly.

Thanks for the replies, I think its fixed now. I blame myself for being dumb and rushing the install. I gave the wrong cam part# when having the tune made. Im tuned by Bama and Doug sent me the correct tune for my cams and she really purrs now, much smoother. Havent had a chance to drive it yet, but I think its fixed. I can say it sounds mean and really loud with frpp stingers. I may post a video on youtube later this week if anybody is interested in hearing it
