O/R X-pipe question

Will O/R x-pipes connect to the stock cats?

Hufenstang 10-13-2008 01:16 AM

more than likely you would have to weld them to the o/r pipe..

O/R x-pipes = off road = no cats. The O/R x-pipes usually take the place of the cats unless they are for long tubes, then even with cats they are considered off road because they are not emissions legal.

There are X-pipes out there that are made to hook up to the stock cats. The frpp x-pipes are one example.

I don't think I want the splice in type from Ford or Pypes because you are supposed to weld them in. I want to be able to switch back and forth between a X-pipe and H-pipe

onederful100 10-13-2008 01:10 PM

off road means no cats
if you want to switch between h and x you must channge the whole mid pipe.
the ford x pipe is cut and clamp

OR means no cats.... X is for Glass pack style muffs AKA pypes mid muffs/ stingers H is for chamberds aka stock/ mac/ flows ect... if you want OR you need to change the whole mid pipe (or punch out the cats... like me) you will pass a visual but not a sniffer or keep cats and bolt on a frpp X. it is bolt on but you should weld it to avoid leaks.

I may just pay the extra and get the catted X-pipe. I have magnapacks, so I think the will work well with the X-pipe.

ChalknCover 10-14-2008 12:35 PM

I would go with the catted Bassani X-pipes. As stated before any type of O/R product is not emissions legal.

gman73 10-14-2008 12:47 PM

I was thinking Bassani.
