Default About to buy a torque converter...

Is 2800 stall a good enough stall or should I just go with the 3k?

reason being is that I read online that the lesser the stall the better it is for traction (especially with a stock tranny and 4.10s.Not to mention sparring the stock input shaft) mind you this is eventually be with a whipple H.O. SC kit w/4.10s, stock tranny.

My other option was to have a higher stall converter (3200) but with 3.73s instead of the 4.10s.

input??

lol 2800 vs 3000 rpms...not that much of a difference and the risks of breaking crap is alot less so.

I think that 2800 is a bit low. I threw in a 3000 TCI just to beat on until i save enough to go to a PI 3500. I am on the stock tranny with 4.10s. I have not had issues yet. I am not sure what your trying to figure out with this post. I am running a saleen DC at 13lbs of boost all all is going well..

nice times with the saleen.
(-:

I read somewhere that too much torque off the line with too high a stall messes up input shafts and puts alot more wear on the drive train (??)

how do you like the 3k stall and how is the ride with 4.10s in your SC'd auto??

I heard about alot of praise as well as warnings about 4.10s and autos but I am just gonna do it anyways because of visual proof of how hard they really do launch.

What risks are you guys all talking about?

I snapped the input shaft at 450 rwhp on the stock torque converter.

Then I went forged input shaft and PI 3000 stall torque converter and I just snapped that at about 500 rwhp. (sure something else might be causing the shafts to snap but my point is the risks are always here anyways.

I noticed no difference in drivability with the PI 3000 stall torque converter except at WOT you really feel the power. I wouldn't go lower then 3000, but that’s just me.

So you snapped Larry's forged input shaft?
I thought it was supposed to be bullet proof!
