Default Shift point w/ JLT/BAMA TUNE?

Was up guys,

I took my car to atco raceway this passing Friday and my best was a 13.27@106 w/ a 2.0 60ft. This was done w/ the 93race tune, I also have 87perf, & 91TQ.

I called up BAMA, and they informed me that the new redline was set at 6800 (I change it to 6500) and recommend shifting around 6400. My best was done by shifting at 6500rpm, just wondering if anyone else who has a BAMA tune at which rpm do they shift at when racing?

when I ran the 13.2, I was running against a sc 96 GT which ran 13.0 @105mph, also w/ a 2.0 60ft. He's 1/8 mph was 85, Mine was 83, So I'm guessing the RACE tune has the power really up top.

TY

I think that is too high. I have bama tunes and the peak tq is around 4500 RPMS. I would shift around 5000 to 5500. I think by the time you hit 6400, your tq would drop too much. I am just basing my answer off my dyno sheet.

Really? I use to shift @6,000rpm stock which gave me the best times. What was ur dyno sheet like? where did ur hp/tq max out @?

Here is the dyno sheet. It looks like shifting at 6000 RPMs your tq might have dropped too much. I am not 100% sure though.

Those are some good, strong #'s on that dyno. I never had my car dyno before, but why did they stop @ 5900rpm? looks like your hp was still strong @ that point, no? I always thought they run the cars till they start losing hp on dyno's.

have you raced ur car in the 1/4 w/ that setup?

Not sure why they stopped. Maybe because the car was loosing tq at that point. I have not ran the 1/4 mile. Closest 1/4 mile track is 2 hrs away. I have ran an 1/8 mile a few times. My best time with my set up is 8.8 or 8.38 for the corrected sea level time.

I can tell you this regarding an auto...I picked up 3 tenths by having Bama(Doug) modify my tune to shift at 6250 instead of 5900. I may even email him again requesting a tune that shifts at 6400.

Torque gets the car going and horse power wins the race. Horse power determines shift point. Don't shift below peak hp. I have auto and bama and best shift point for me is 6300/
