Default What to do with $1,200???

Hey,

I won $1,200 bucks at Atlantic City, and I've decided to put it towards my car. I have a stock 2008 GT Premium Coupe (Auto). For performance, how should I invest this money (including installation)??? Can anyone recommend where to get this done on Long Island?

Thank you all!

Later added:
Thank you all so far! Yeah, I finally won! Been going to AC 3-4 times a year for the last 3 years and never finished in the green until last week! I can't see myself (or anyone else) doing any intensive work on this car. I just want a little more punch out of this car for now. This is will probably be the only time I spend $$$ on this car for performance. I guess it's a one time shot to try and get the best bang for my buck with $1,200.

So you're the guy who got my money. I've given AC tons of cash over the years. Oh well, glad to hear someone won. Anyway, I would do the basics, CAI tune, and an exhaust. That's a good start for a stock car and I'm sure you'll be plenty happy with the results.

Well, it sort of depends on your future goals. If you are not planning on forced induction, definitely do an intake/tuner package such as this:

http://www.bamachips.com/store/index...3f426f57f4e6cc

If you go with BamaChips, ask for a Race Tune. Doug is a master with the automatics, it will transform the car. You won't need to pay anything for install, its EASY to do yourself.

The other thing I would recommend is a set of gears, such as 3.73s. Do your homework to figure out the best fit for you though. You're probably looking at about $500-550 installed out the door parts and all (at least, thats what I was quoted recently). You WILL need a professional install for the gears...

Good luck!

My suggestion is a CAI and tuner (Bama or Brenspeed are good), 3.73 - 4.10 gears and an alum D/S.

With the above you could probably take about .75 off your 1/4 mile time.

Probably a little over you $1200 limit but worth it.

Definitely A Cold Air Intake + Tune for starters. Brenspeed and bamachips like previously stated. Then I would go with an exhaust before gears.. Make your car sound mean!

CAI+TUNER: STEEDA, C&L or JLT forsure with an SCT TUNER(I went with Steeda).

Exhaust:
Just an axelback? Mac...
If you want to eliminate Cats: I would do a flowmaster AT setup with an offroad H. Or a SLP Loudmouth Setup with an offroad X. I would do the flowmaster with an offroad H. Sounds amazing!

Some shorty headers are great too....

Oh yeah cheapest flowmasters I saw were on summit racing. I only 300 for the flows and 149 for the offroad H pipe.

Intake is a simple bolt on. So is the mufflers. You're looking at maybe 2 hours with simply hand tools in your driveway! The H pipe is a little harder. Maybe have someone do that for you unless you have a friend thats good at working on cars. A simple jack stand to lift the front up and you could do it too. It's even pretty easy but not cake like the other two...

So yeah 650 for the intake/tune package. 450$ for the flows and h pipe. 1100$ And a 100$ to paysomone to install the h pipe? Or buy some beer, cook some steaks, and do it yourself!

Thank you!! This is really helpful. It definately sounds like a CAI and Tune is the first thing to get done. I like the exhaust idea as well. I've heard a few from other Mustangs; definately a nice sound!

I would say mandatory cai/tune, gears, and off road pipe? I would also definitely try and look in the for sale threads because they always have really good deals.

Johnny,

If you are planning on making your car really fast in the future like putting on an SC I would save for the SC or do some suspension mods.

If any form of FI is not in your future than I would definatley get a tuner, JLT2 and either gears or LCAs . . maybe both.
