Default Changing tunes on a XCal 3

Hey everyone, I just got my C&L Street intake and X3 tuner from Bamachips installed yesterday. I ordered it with the 87 preformance, 91 torque, and 93 torque tunes. I will normally run the 93 torque tune, but if I need to change to the 91 torque tune (if i'm out of town and don't have access to 93 octane), do I have to reload the stock tune and then put the 91 octane tune on, or can I just download the 91 octane over the 93 octane and vise versa when I get my 93 octane fuel back in?

yes you do not need to reload the factory tune ever. even if you run the 93 tune all the time i would reload it periodically to clear the adaptive learning of the pcm and give you a fresh tune. (maybe once a month)

Cool. I didn't think you would have to have to reload it to stock and then put the new tune on, but figured I would make sure first. thanks for help guys.

Glad you're carrying the tuner. I travel a lot and had a few occasions where I couldn't get the higher octane and was back on the road in 2 minutes with a lower octane tune.

Ya, on my 2000 GT that I had before my 06, I had a Diablosport and always carried it with me when I was out of town. Biggest reason was for the trouble codes, but if all I could get was 91, I could drop 2* of timming out of the tune and be ok.

yes dropping timing works as well but generaly speaking changing the tune itself works best.

Ya, on the new one I'll just change the tune. On the 2000 with the diablosport, you only get a tune that is 93 octane, so the only way to run a lower octane is to modify the tune.
