The reason you need to take off the intake is the car won't run right on stock tune with the aftermarket intake still on

True, but any tuner can make an "emissions tune" that will turn on all sensors needed to pass emissions. For a CAI it's no problem to have them all on and working. LT headers are a different story though.

Yeah only a few counties in tx do emissions. Most do not. I hope it stays that way.

Here ya go, its pretty involved actually.
http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

In Illinois we are allowed 1 not ready, and will still pass. With my rear o2's turned off in the tune I have 3 not ready monitors. Because other monitors will not run until it gets a reading from the rear o2's. I got time before my test and will email Brenspeed for the emission safe tune and will not be swapping any parts. Not a huge deal really.

+1 At first I just used the SCT to set the car back to stock tune.
Two miles down the road the engine light came on.
To get rid of the code, I had to switch the intake also.

In MA they plug the car into the emissions computer using the same plug as the SCT.
~ Safety glasses optional.

why would you need to change tune or take off the cai. I thought with our tuners we can go in and turn on/off the O2 sensors ourselves, then it would just be a matter of putting on your stock h-pipe if you have an off road one.

if you put the stock intake back on and reflash to stock, wont the car run really poorly ?

(i live in NY, and this topic if one thing that is preventing me from ordering the intake/tune package) NY emission testing is the same as cali i believe ?

If we can, I'd surely want to know how. I contacted Brenspeed and they offered to give me an emissions-friendly tune, but it would take a week.
Now I have two years.
