Default Rear Axle Girdle

How important exactly are these rear axle girdles for our cars? I have 4.10 gears but I never got a a girdle for the rear end. Do I run the risk of blowing something out? More-so than I would with one? I do spirited driving and the tires do spin alot on shifts. Do I need one of these to keep the rear safe?

Also is one REALLY needed if I plan to go to the track and hook up? Or are these not really needed for any type of driving. Thanks alot, I feel not getting it has been the worst mistake ever haha

I have a girdle and brace. Ron, over on another forum, broke his axle launching on slicks because he didnt have a brace and girdle he said. He is also launching on a crazy amount of power though. Honestly i dont think its really that needed without a power adder.

I have the same rear axle girdle and I have 4.10s. No issues. I wouldn't replace it, unless you have a hole burning in your pocket.

+1 i agree, ive only seen people have problems really at 500+rwhp racing on slicks to be honest.

I have a girdle, looks nice but it is OVERKILL and not needed. Maybe if you get to 500 hp and leaving at 5-6k on slicks but until then only buy it if you want it.

I look at the girdle as cheap insurance. 99% of the people probably dont beat on them hard enough to matter but there is always a chance.

For a bolt on car I wouldnt put one on unless you are a real track junky leaving at 5k rpms on slicks.

Might be overkill, but owned enough Trac lok 8.8's that when I go in there, I always put in a Tru Trac, gears, and girdle. If you can break that it is time for a 9" rear.

No never been to the track and when i launch it on the street it just spins anyway. I was just inquiring wether the rear would be ok to occasionally do some track time and launching on M/T radials.
