McLeod RST - Looking for Install Tips-sticky above!

another question i have is, how to
best prepare the transmission input
shaft, before installing the new slave,
should it just be wiped down, or should
grease be applied....
also what about the very end of the shaft,
should it be greased at all before installing
into the pilot bearing...

I passed your question on to Lee here is his reply:
Wipe the input shaft clean, or spray it down with acetone or paint thinner. Next, inspect the shaft for nicks burrs etc. File/fix if necessary. Apply a THIN film of lithium grease to the input shaft making sure that the disc slides smoothly on the input. No application of anything is needed on the lead of the input as all of the grease necessary is already in the pilot bearing.

to Lee's desk......
sadly, i do believe i'm all out of questions.....
as soon as my mcleod billet steel flywheel
arrives, i'll be able to start reassembling.....

What happened with the flywheel? Backordered? You know I could have made you a great deal on a Specs flywheel!

well up until a few days ago, i had been
considering reusing the stock flywheel....
the issue with less surface area coupled
with the hassle of taking it somewhere,
made the choice to purchase a new
one less painful.

ok moose, it turns out i still had the upper
bolts bagged separately from the rest.....
what i can say for sure is, the bolts that go
in the top 2 mounting holes, are not
the longest bolts.....
i did mix the 2 long ones with the remaining shorter
ones, so i can't say without looking, where they
are supposed to go...

casey, you are the man! thanks, your pictures
answered one of my other questions, which was,
"which clutch disk goes closest to the flywheel?"
your pics indicate that the one labeled "bottom"
is the answer.
that sure is one good looking setup.
moose, funny thing is i had those two
upper transmission bolts bagged by themselves
for a while......then after i removed the remaining
bolts, i threw them in the same bag...
i remember now you mentioning that maybe those
were a different length, but i forgot about it
until you mentioned again....
i'll look in the bag tonight, to see if all the
bolts are the same size or not.....

They looked like they would stick way out in any of the other mounting holes.
