I know we all want a forged crank and pistons but i wonder if this is possible what would it move the HP rating to on the block. At 450 RWHP all agree over this is no mans land. well if you swap out the rods does it move up to like 600 RWHP. I could see a whole lotta guys wanting to stay under this and be happy to remain out of the $10,000 bill for forged block and fancy dancy heads.

Please do not waist the writing time of telling me to just pay the money for the full blown deal. I am wanting to stay focused on the question at hand if it is even doable or just beyond dumb.

Thanks for any constructive info with my questions.

OK, basically Not possible. You are not going to be able to remove the rods from the pistons.....while the piston is still in the cylinder. You would have to remove completely out of the engine. This brings us to....how do you reinstall the piston back in the cylinder?? You can't ,because you will have no way to compress the rings.

There are other things as stated, having the rotating assy. re-balanced, remove trans, remove front timing chain cover, etc.

hotairgypsy, i can appreciate what you
are trying to do... i would rather you get
your engine on an engine stand and then
replace whatever parts you'd like to
replace.

good luck with the project, keep us
informed

gypsy,

Feel free to contact me about a kit or rod/pistons, etc. I am sure we can put together something to help fit your budget and still keeping strength and quality.

Best bet is like said above buy a forged shortblock. Since you have a spare then what are you waiting for!! Good luck. Personally I am saving all of next year while I am on deployment and buying myself a nice little shortblock!!

haha, well I can't say I "cheaped" out on anything on the rest of my car, but we'll see, it's a tough decision. Maybe I'll just throw the cams in there, up the boost and wait to blow the stock block, so i have no choice hahahah
