Default 3rd gear synchro

Lost 3rd gear synchros at about 2000 miles on the 08. Dealer couldnt get it in right away so it got about another 500 miles on it after diagnosis. Anybody else had an issue like this? Not the dealer issue, the synchros....

oh yeah, but most likely mine went because I had prob 100+ passes at the drag strip power shifting. Be happy that the dealer is covering it, trust me, its not cheap

Thanks for moving it to the right spot Joo.......

Yeah AS, this isnt due to power shifts. Well... errr..... there may have been one or two but this thing started to grind into 3rd around 1500-2000 miles.

Mine's been "noisy" since I got it, but "noisy" is a lot different than "busted". Took it to the dealership, and their response was "yeah, these things are noisy like that". Just turned 19k with no problems; hopefully I'm not driving around a timebomb...

Sorry to hear you're having problems after such a short period of time. I'm sure it puts a damper on the "new car feel".

I have the same grinding when its cold issue. I saw a couple weeks ago, someone posted a TSB for replacing the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros if you get the gear grinding when outside temperature is <40* F.

This seems to be a problem with some cars. Ford has a tsb for it. I've read that theres a certain plant overseas that supply some of the syncros and they are junk right from the get go. You would think that all 08's would have this problem solved. Mine doesn't grind, but in the third gear you can feel the gears engaging.

I have never had mine grind, but it does feel more notchy when cold. Shifting at high rpms feels like butter.
