Default Drag limited?

Hey i know that our cars are drag limited at like 149? +/-. I was wondering if there were ways to fix that, like would changing the body or suspension do anything?

Obviously this probably wouldn't apply to me, since I'm NA and have 4.10s installed, so I wouldn't get that high, but I was just wondering regardless...

They are only limited to that speed with a stock car. With more power you can go faster than that.

Normally 4.10's would decrease your top speed but since you are stock~ish it actually raises your top speed.

Your Brenspeed tune should have disabled the speed limiter (actually, resets it at some ridiculous speed like 200+ MPH). Even at 150 MPH, I'd only be turning about 4500 RPM in 5th gear with my 3.55's so fuel delivery shouldn't be an issue.

No what you have read is correct. the 4.10s do decrease top speed, as in if you were not drag limited and where in a vacuum or whatever.

With the 4.10s you can increase the drag limited speed because it will get you further into the power band in all gears. When you go the new gears you should have felt like 5th gear is usable with more pull in it.

My car is actually limited by the Whipple tune at 240km/hr (150mph ish)
It hits that limiter pretty hard!!

Extractor hood,
lower,
splitter,
better wing,

I think would all help aerodynamics.

i have pretty basic bolt-ons, and on the way to California a few weeks ago i hit somewhere arround 155-160. i am estimating that because our speedo's on stock GT's end at 145. i dont remember what RPM i was at, but it was fast enough for me. and the "hood shake" is very pronounced at that speed. its down-right frightening! looks like its gonna fly off. i guess its time for a good set of hood pins.

I thought the roushes and GT500 topped out at 160? same body, so ours 'should' be able to get up that high as long as we have the power for it?

pegged the speedo at 145 before, that's with the C & L racer intake/brenspeed tune.

160 would be a few car lengths ahead, that's faster but not that much faster ...
still enough to kill you and everyone else around you if you wreck, so it's fast enough.
