I found that the difference in the car with an intake/tune was much more dramatic on my 07 auto than this 09 manual, to the point that I was actually disappointed in the manual's performance. The auto was night & day, the manual felt like a small incremental upgrade...

Think it is like most anything you pull power from one part to pump up another part. I am sure that you are putting out more down low as well but there is probably a lot more at the top end.

I emailed Brenspeed to get their comments. Here's what they told me:

You should feel a rush of power at 3000 RPM. That is when the car is able to really perform. It doesn’t have less power below 3, it just feels like it because of how much more power it now has above 3. These cars have High RPM power plants. We maximize the torque for your car, but the peak Torque is made at 5000 to 5500 RPM. Low end torque is not something that these cars have. Lower rear end gears will get your car through that low RPM range and into the power producing RPM quicker and are a popular modification for that reason.
Makes sense to me.

When I had a Brenspeed tune all I noticed was better throttle response and more power. Of course I had 4.10's and was coming off a Ford Racing tune. My dyno sheets also showed more power throughout the bands for torque and hp, not just up top.

The Brenspeed tune also sounded raspier. Could of just been me.
My Brenspeed tune definitely raspier than stock.

what? along for the ride? screw that, I drive my auto. So what if i'm not shifting gears. I'm still mashing the gas, swinging the rear end out, and burning rubber.

just a saying.. that being said i owned an auto (for 6 weeks and sold it) feel much less connected to the car, less fuel economy, higher purchase cost, less power to the wheels... ect.
to each there own, on your side, autos are the fastest highly modded drag cars due to consistancy.

The tune can make your car shift a lot firmer. I do think that a manual gives one much more control but in the end most folks cant do better than what the auto tranny can do on its own. I wish I had an Manual but I was hurt in an accident and unfortunately am not able to work a clutch easily. I do wish the 3V had a little more low end torque because it really screams up top. Guess I need to stroke it one of these days but damn I am sick of spending money these cars are like having a really bad habit...
