Car's been sittin now has a code
Hey all happy new year!!! My car has been sitting in the driveway for a couple weeks with the weather being the nastiest its been in 40 years. I pulled the code P0171 "system too lean" today. While I pulled the code today it was on thier for about a week but my battery had died since then so I had to jump it today to start it and figured I may have an issue. I have not pulled the negative cable to clear the codes, figured the dead battery would do that. Anyone have any idea's?

Too be fair we have spent most of that time below freezing, my car was covered in snow/ice and last time I started it I had left the defroster/fan/heater/skipper500 all on when I shut it down so yea it killed it.

if your asking what to do to try and fix the code:
check all the intake air system for leaks, obstructions or damage
then check all the vacuum hoses to make sure everything is good there
from there it get complicated bc you need to check for a vacuum leak
or perform a KOER self-test depending on if there is a vacuum leak
if your just trying to reset the code im not exactually sure but unpluging the battery should reset it if the problem has been fixed and if that doesnt do it "Ive heard", not from my own experience, it will eventually reset itself and the code will quite appearing after a while....thats just what ive heard

Your hand held tuner can remove codes?......did you get one with the brenspeed tunes or BAMA?.....how were they downloaded into the OBD2 port? If you don't have one have Autozone or the like read and remove it! If it comes back again after have it looked into by a local tuner that knows and understands the tunes on these computer controlled cars.... JMO

Your adaptive fuel tables have reached a rich calibration limit.
This can be caused by all sorts of things.
None I can tie in with the 2 week dead battery cold storage.
The system was not 'too lean', it just could not get the mixture
right before reaching the rich clibration limit.
Could be a result from the tune thats installed.
Clear the code and see if it comes back again.
When did you 'pull the code', before or after you drove it.
What caused you to pull codes?

Started the car one night when it was about 22 degrees outside. It sputtered briefly and started but the check engine light came on. I ran it for 15 minutes and shut it down it got buried with snow and sat for about 12 days. Battery died so I jumped it yesterday and the CEL is still thier so I grabbed my sct and pulled the code. Ive been running this tune for months but I can change back to brenspeed to see if thats an issue but something doesnt seem right. I did drive it and it idles ok but feels rougher than normal. I also noticed a sweet smell around my car while it was running come to think of it.
I would attribute it to the tune and it being cold.
Disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 mins
and reconnect it. Follow the directions in the Owners
Manual to let the adaptive learning relearn itself.
Check the air cleaner/inlet assembly for leaks.
Clear the DTC and drive it as usual to see if the
DTC is set again.
