Default considering s197 gt

hey guys, I currently have a 03 Mach 1 close to stock with 21k miles. However, I'm looking at 06-07 Gt's. I'm really am looking for something more comfortable to drive, but still has some guts with good looks. I'm also looking at the 6.0 GTOs. If I got one, I would prob. do full bolt ons with 4.10's and maybe a supercharger down the road. How reliable are these cars, more comfortable? Do you think a full bolt on could hang with my Mach? Looking to spend around 17-18 with under 15k miles.

I just beat an ls2 gto last week in my GT and as far as performance mods I only have the brenspeed intake/tune package ($550) and FRPP 3.73s ($400 installed). The S197 wont seem as fast as your mach because they are so much smoother, but track times will show it. I guess to beat your mach, you might need intake/tune, gears, UDPs, and maybe headers.

I've beat two Mach 1's with just JLT II and SCT tune from Brenspeed. It was probably more of a driver mod thing...

I would buy the Mustang over the GTO for looks.
another thing to consider is the GTO's nearly 3800lbs vs Mustangs 3450lbs

w/ full bolt ons the s197 will hang w/ your mach no problem. finding one in the 17-18k range should be easy. idk if its that much more comfortable than the mach, i've never sat in a mach that long to notice how uncomfortable it is.

i would not even recommend the GTO
i've read a couple of reviews on the GTO and it turns out to be there not very reliable.
Ask Morbid Intentions about the GTO
sounds like the biggest piece from Carsurvey.org
couple of people are involved in lawsuits over that car because of its unreliability

we've had a GTO since 2004 (its an 05) and not bad at all, its actually held better than my mustang has... The only problem they had was with the battery dieing, but pontiac replaces it for free...

i just hate the looks.

like the above poster mentioned. It will more than be able to hang, Stock Mach 1's make almost the exact same numbers for HP/TQ that a stock S197 does, and they weigh a slight bit more than a S197 5-speed. But in the S197 you get to take advantage of the much improved handling/suspension and weight distribution.
