not fuel pump, or filter

1999 mustang fuel issue between carb and tank. Runs on starter fluid. Replaced filter it worked for a day. Pump is working. Stalls on occation randomly. towed twice. It is at the shop and it starts for them every time. When I go get it it will die on the way home I am guessing........

Was the fuel pressure sufficient? The pump may work but could be short on fuel pressure.
