Default New Exhaust Question

I just bought a 2009 GT and the stock is exhaust is ok, but I'd like to change it. I DON'T want my car to be deafing but i would like it a little louder. I'm asking the season Mustang owners what is a good brand to check into. I've heard about borla, magnaflow, and flowmaster. Is there really a difference? what are the pro's and con's you guys have encountered with these types of pipes?

In your case many people would recommend either Maganflows or FRPP GTAs.

Lots of people on here love the stingers and that general 'style' of axel back if you will. the plus is a mean sound at WOT the downside is the drone.
+1 on the GTA's
-1 on the magnaflows i dont like the clanky metal sound

i can honestly say i've never REALLY heard the stock mustang sound.. my car came with flowmaster a/b and although they were decent (really nice if you want to get louder, just throw on an o/r h) they really are nice and tame with nearly all configurations... look into them (*caugh im selling mine possibly caugh*)

only main con is if you get an o/r mid pipe..it will sound like chubacca taking a sh*t.. lmao here http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1027081852.flv thats flowmasters w/ o/r h and stock manifolds... its like 180 from when you use stock mid pipe/ manifolds. just figured id give you that kind of warning and a complete synopsis on them

As far as Borlas are concerned, the Stinger has the "GT" suffix while the "GTA" is a bit more mellow but still louder than stock. Both will improve the sound. The Stingers are more impressive but they drone at about 1800 RPM.

I love my Magnapacks. If you go Magnaflow, get the Magnapacks and not the chambered mufflers. It is loader than stock but not deafening, and there is some drone that happens at 1750-2000 rpms, but it is bearable. Here is a clip of mine, mind you this is stock everything except for the mufflers and tips, I had a shop weld them in:

The GT's and GTA's are manufactured by Borla for Ford, have the Ford logo on the tips (at least the GT's do) and are bolt-in; an easy DIY job.

You are going to get many opinons. I suggested GTAs or Maganflows because they are louder than stock, but not too loud. I like RDSX have magnapacks. They will be louder than than the Reg.Magnaflows and GTAs. As far as being too loud for what you are looking for, that's hard to say. Your best bet would be to find a local mustang club and listen to other peoples car.

Ditto, but you'll probably walk away with about $20,000 worth of mods you want to do, none of which will be axlebacks.
