From a roll, big smile.
From a dig, big frown(due to the stock tune's throttle nanny).
From a dig with a CAI and tune, big smile again.

"Yeah, now THAT'S what cars are supposed to feel like."

Coming from about 3 years of 225 HP and less in FWD cars - I'd kind of forgotten that cars could feel like that when you stepped on the gas.

The DBW has more initial throttle response than the mechanical throttle linkage on my other V8 RWD car (that I intentionally slowed the early throttle action on), so it feels even faster than that car even though it probably isn't.

I can't remember when the first time I really got on it was. Then again, the first time I floored it, I was probably in too high of a gear and it just kind of ambled up to sufficient RPM. I REALLY didn't understand the finer points of manual driving when I first picked my car up off the lot...

No I didn't get rid of it...although I did see a dark gray Challenger today that made me drool.

Why do we have to plan Mustang Mania without Walker?

The first time I nailed it, I was leaving the dealership and getting on I95 with my wife behind me in her pt cruiser. Full throttle in 2nd and 3rd all the way to redline. I was in heaven after that. My wife said one second I was there and the next I was gone.

I kinda miss those days of chirping second and 3rd with just a CAI and tune.

I was really disappointed the first time i got on it. I thought it was going to feel alot stronger, but I also was comparing it to my supercharged fox body. Now with the whipple it feels like it should.

I had driven an Escort for 8+ years before I bought the Stang. When I was leaving work in the 'scort heading to the dealership to finalize the purchase and pick up my detailed new car, I was beside another GT - I just kept thinking in an hour, I'll be just like you. Talk about premature ...oh never mind.

Anyway, the first time I really could use the power, I was merging from an on-ramp at highway speed in 5th and was able to downshift to 4th and stomp on it and pulled into the slot and then into the passing lane...all going uphill. I was thrilled beyond belief - sh**-eatin' grin and all. I barely had the power in my 'scort to make it up this hill, let alone accelerate!

Honestly the first time i nailed the gas i was dissapointed. I was on a test drive with a auto GT and the kickdown just felt sluggish and no low end(compared to my last car built for low end). It was so quiet on the inside i just kinda lost hope. Till i got into a 06 Vert GT manual. Banging the gears was a hell of a lot more fun and i could actually feel the power. Plus, with the top down, i could hear that v8! Needless to say i ended up with a 06GT manual and added the gears/mods to get some low end grunt that it was missing! -Jon

Default First Time

I bought my car when they were closing out the '06's. I had ridden in a couple of friends cars and knew I wanted one, and one day my wife said "Why don't you just do it?". They did not have any 5-speed GTs on the lot, but after one false start they found me one, and I had it in a week. Before I picked up my car, I had never driven one.

The first thing I thought was: "This thing is lot faster than it ought to be!'

Thanks for prompting the memory.

Now you just sit there and spin the tires!....that belt drive seems like it would guarantee some wins even at 13 psi! When I go forged I will buy and let you guys know what numbers she puts down and some vids on the sound and hopefully relay some idea of how she feels!
