Default Gears and Speedo?

If i was to get 3.75 gears installed would ford automatically recalibrate my speedometer? Or would that be something i would have to buy a tuner for?

Evolution Performance told me that I'd have to buy my own tuner to adjust for new gears. I CANNOT believe there isn't a way to have a shop simply load a stock/canned tune on the car with only the drivetrain characteristics updated.

If the dealership does the work they should be able to recalibrate for the new gears as they have the ability to reflash cars for updates. I believe a tuner shop is a bit different in that they can only modify and install the tunes via an SCT, Diablo and etc.

i guess you mean 3.73s and no the dealer cannot adjust for it AFAIK

You need a hand held, but you want that anyway with a CAI, that and the gears will give the car a nice wake up!!

Ford will not reflash your stock tune with new gears. Many people have tried and cant say i have heard of any getting it done. They dealers haev stated that the computer they have wouldnt allow for it.

Thanks for the clarrity. I used a tuner but was thinking that if a dealership installed the FRPP gears they would recalibrate. Interesting.

What I recall as that Ford can change the gear for 3.55 and 3.31 since they were Ford factory options. If you did 3.73, 3.9 or 4.10 they couldnt change it. Now, since the bullitt came out this might have changed and they might have a 3.73 option available.
