got my stuff finally installed i went with bama, i got the jlt with the sct 93 race 93 tq and 87 performance. with o/d off best stock was 13.92, after install and tune with o/d off i ran a 13.63. i feel like i could have done better but i only ran twice. i believe im capable 13.5 maybe 13.4. overall i believe it took a half second off of my quarter if i had a good run. but at the end of the qaurter its shifting into 4th and i was wondering if it should? should i run with the overdrive on? also what should i be launching the car at with the 93 race tune?

i have an auto too and have had both tunes.i race in a 1/8 mile and bama tunes turn out to be 3 tenth of a second faster.brenspeed got me a 9.2 and bama an 8.9.
How do you know it wasnt other factors that made .3 difference?
I mean I can have several runs on any race day that are .5 off from each other without any changes except launch or traction. But you can atttibute this .3 to the tune?
Same day? same track? same temperature? same track prep? (The list goes on...)

Forget about O/D, if your WOT it won't even come into play. At what RPM is it shifting? What was your trap speed?

I think you are a little confused about O/D and 4th gear. The auto's have 5 gears, the O/D gives access to 5th gear, the overdrive gear. 4th gear is 1:1 ratio and the car must use 4th gear. At the track, you only need overdrive (5th gear) if you have very low gear ratio, (4.30's, the higher the number, the lower the ratio). you should be just about approaching redline just as you cross the 1/4 mile.
Grampa is right about not worrying about the O/D button. A lot of auto drivers think it does something else, like an aggressive or late shift, but all it does is limit the car to 4 gears. At WOT, our auto's won't shift into 5th until you release WOT.

its shifting at about 6200. my trap speed was 101.99mph. why i turn the o/d button off is that when i had my car stock i went ot the track and ran 14.5 and 14.7 with overdrive on. i went back a week later with overdrive off and was running 14.1's and 14.2's and eventually ran a 13.92. but next time i go to the track i will keep it on and see what happens. right about when im gonna cross the line im shifting into 4th im not redlining 3rd. so i dont know , 13.6 is still a good time and now im looking to get 3.73's or deleting the cats not sure yet what i wanna do. im also in the middle of blacking out my car so alot in store in the next month or so with the car. its a rolling hill of mods!

I have Brenspeed tunes 87/91/93 and auto.
How hard shifting you have on WOT ?
Mine is so that it really slams the gear in, it even sounds really hard.
A bit worried of breaking the tranny.

Those are the exact same tunes I got.
My car shifts into 4th right before the end of the 1/4 mile.

I ran a 13.3 @ 106 but I also have pullies, delete plates, and an off road midpipe.

The way I launch is I powerbrake and have the rpm at around 2000, and when I see the last yellow light release the brake and floor it.

Just one point to remmember is with O/d off you now have engine braking, and there are some reports that this pulls oil through the pcv system. O/D on no engine braking. O/D on and T/C off and let the computer do the work.
