First of all, Doug at Bamachips is known to be better with tuning Automatic S197s than Brenspeed. The difference is marginal but Bama is still better from what I've read and heard.

If you have the stock 3.31 gears, the car won't shift into fourth until the end of the 1/4 mile, but that also depends on your shift points. But you should have the OD off anyway to avoid shifting into 5th.

Excellent choice on the JLT by the way.

Not so fast with the Bama tune...Most people will agree Brenspeed's tune really kicks in after 3000rpm. and when you're at the track, that's where you want the power. As for the track, the OD button only prevents the transmission from using 5th gear. It won't have any effect on the other gears or shift points. Leave OD off and you should be close to redline by the time you cross the line.

doug at bama. but it is all up to the owners personal preference. but i have only heard good things about what doug does with the auto's (shift points and firmness)

I've read a lot of people say that BAMA is better with autos. I have an auto and that is where I got my tune from. Couldn't be happier with it.

BAMA FTW. I'd like to try a Brenspeed out of curiosity though. BTW..I haven't lost to a manual yet. The closest a manual has come was a 14.225 to my 14.224. His mods were C&L CAI/Brenspeed tune, but he also had Kooks LT's. We had normal street tires,NO DR's.

It was really funny when we compared our times.
he said "whatch run"
I said "14.2"
he said "14.2 what?
i said "14.22"
he said 14.22 what?
i said "14.224"
he said "DAMN IT!..14.225"
wish we would've went head to head..then reaction time would've came into play.. for the win anyways. Would've been one helluva race. Ok, I'm done rambling.

I tried the Brenspeed and Bama tunes on my 07 automatic GT. The Bama race tune was far superior to the Brenspeed tune on that car. I preferred Brenspeed for this 09 manual when I had just a CAI (I tried both as well).
