Default HP gains from displacement

What horsepower gains do you get from 4.6l to 5.0l. I have no clue. Also who sells shortblocks over 5.0l displacement (i.e. 5.1l or greater). I have heard of a few but can't remember the names. Lastly who do you guys recommend for shortblocks. I would like to create a list for others as well.

Thanks....and ****

You also have to take into consideration the Compression ratio. When i went to the 298 motor my compression went down some so i only gained about 10rwhp but i was able to run a lot more boost this way. I think stock compression is either 9:7:1 or 9:8:1 and i went down to a 9:1:1

If you are looking to build a NA motor though, then definately do a high compression somewhere in the 11:1 or 12:1 range seems to be the norm for NA builds

Livernois builds some really nice motors, if i had to do it again thats who i would go with.

I have a Whipple and would like to get to about the same place you are. I am starting to save for this but I want to start asking all the important questions early. Also would you recommend another type of tranny rather than a TR6060, they are a little pricey. I bet our stock ones just melt with the amount of horses you are puttin down.

Yep, Huf broke his 5-speed. That was with less HP than he has now!

Since you're FI'ed, I'd say look at Livernois blocks. A lower 9.1:1 compression would be good for you as you can up the boost a lot more. Their blocks are also solid and will handle as much as you can possibly throw at them with a whipple.

Besides a TR6060, you could always go to a TKO 500/600 which is an auto 5 speed with full manual valvebody so you can still shift yourself. http://www.5speedtransmissions.com/tr-3550.html

Correct. If compression is equal - rule of thumb is around 2 HP per ci

How would you factor in compression? I'm curious to know what kind of gains there would be from going to 302 with 11:1 compression. That's something I've thought about quite a bit.
