Updated: FRPP Cams Installed, Dyno Sheet inside + Youtube Vid
2 Attachment(s)
Made 332HP with 350TQ, not sure really how to do the math but thats what I got. My original Dyno sheet without the cams was like 297 for both. Anyways here it is. It was dark out but you really only need the sound. Skip to like 1:00min it was just waking up so you really cant hear the cams cause its too loud. Also after I drove it around the block, the Idle steadied at about 800 which was nice.....

very nice numbers and congrats
on getting cammed. |
Sounds great!
|
Love the sound and the numbers are decent. The A/F ratio is perfect!
|
My son woke up screaming so I figured I would get on here because Im pretty much an addict. I thought the numbers were good for now but I still want that blower. I thought I was going to not get that much torque but Im happy with it. I took that quick vid and it was late and didnt want people to think that I was crazy being outside. Anyways thanks for the replys.

I was going to also ask, does anyone think I could get a like a 285/40 in my wheel well or no? I just think I could go thinker and look better. Maybe 255/40 in the front, I have the sportlines so I dont know
|
285/40 will fit in the back and 255 or 265 in the front..... what size rim?
|
20 INCH, I wasnt sure so I stuck with the 30 series.
|
Yeah I have 285/30/20's in back and 265/30/20's in front. Next set of tires will be the Nitto Invo's or any company that makes 285/40/20's (maybe 275 if DR's) and 255/35/20 up front.....how much drop with the sportlines again?
|
Check Nitto's website for all the different sizes...looks like for the INVO's its 275/40/20 which is fine for more sidewall height. (28.62 tire height:eek:) which is quite tall....I cant drop mine so the more side wall height the better IMO. ;)

Congratz!!...Nice numbers and of course sounds great !!
|
At first I plugged my tuner in....well I was trying to mess with the RPMs, but I cant figure it out. Do I have to load the tune again to do it? I have a 91 and a 93 tune but im not sure if my tuner loaded the tune into the xcal2. What I guess im trying to say is that, im not sure if those are brenspeeds tunes or the guy that did it locally.
|
I'm sort of confused on the dyno graph you posted. What to the red and green lines represent? If that's before and after I see no gains in TQ at all. Are those just two runs with cams with tweaks to the tune or something?
|
I believe one is torque and one is hp. I didnt do a before dyno, but had one done about a year ago so thats where I got the before and after. Definitely a difference between canned and custom tune. But brenspeeds tune was very nice anyways.

You can go alot bigger. I'm running 295/45/18's out back and 255/50/17s up front with all BMR suspension parts and Tokico shocks/struts. So - 285/40s would work fine for you. Good job on the cam #s - very impressed. |
No way hp and torque track each other like that. Torque is always higher in lower rpm and hp is always higher in higher rpms.
Those 2 curves look like 2 hp plots from 2 different dyno runs. |
two different runs... torque and a/f are the only things showing on that graph. I think it said run 004 and run 008. my guess is those are the best two runs. Great numbers. Surprising that cams only netted a 30+ horse gain from the last numbers.

30 hp is good for me. :D
I like how these cams do not lose power either. I read more on the Thumpr today and while they sound killer, I'm just not at all impressed with the performance. The hot rods give you no loss but gains from 3K and up and consistent gains as well. Killer sound and stock valve train. Mucho Bueno! Sehr Gut! :D |
I'm going to have to see many more dyno sheets on these cams. No doubt I have a great deal more power and higher up in the powerband but I haven't seen any dyno sheets that look the same.
|
I'm sure I would lose 20+ hp and another 500-750rpm in powerband with stock cams.
Powerband is immensely important in a 4.10 geared and N/A car. |
Something is wrong with those graphs. The peak is far too low of an RPM as they pull easily to 6200 - 6500 RPMs. I did not gain much with the cams but that was because I do not have long tubes. Either way the cams sound great and they do improve power. NICE MOD!
|
Yeah, for the money if all your looking for is to gain some hp, probably arnt the way to go since I only got 30-35. I did it for the sound and Ive heard out there numerous times about why would someone want to pay all that money for just sound...Well I guess I must be that someone. Also my original tune was a canned tune....And after getting a custom tune it definitely feels alot better. DTP Racing did the tune and I think they are they only tuner in virginia beach and have people come to them from other states on the east coast so they have to be pretty good I guess at what they do. Anyways I took one more quick video in the garage and probably should have not shown my license plate but owell they are getting changed next month.
