Default Shorty header questions (again)

I know there have been lots of questions on headers and I've read many. I'd like to install some shorties for better sound (realise not much improvement in power) and wondered which gave best sound and which ones don't need the engine mounts changing?, also is the ceramic finish worth it? Cheers,

IMO BBKs sound great because they are tuned length. I have them with FRPP X pipe and Mac Mufflers. I get comments all the time about how great my car sounds, plus I have FRPP Hot Rod cams. They bolted right up using the factory gaskets and factory studs. No problem at all with install and I've seen several go on with no problems. The ceramic finish is the only way to go. The only other ones I seen are the FRPP shorties but they are not tuned and the finish doesn't look as good. BBKs are cheaper. Long tubes are better but not by much. L/ts will cause you to loose a little low end torque where as the shorties will give you more low end. I could not justify the price, install, and then a re-tune on the dyno for l/ts. You will not need a re-tune with the shorties. Trust me you will be very satisfied with the shorties either BBK or JBA's for tuned headers but I can not recommenced any other brand for I have not seen any others. I have heard you need some adjustments in the motor mounts for the JBA's. Good Luck.

i've heard good things about the bbk shorties too (actually, they are next on my mod list ). as far as the coating goes, the ceramic ones help more in keeping things from overheating and will look better if you use your car as a show car. but if your car is just a daily driver (or if you rarely, or never go to the track), then the chrome plated ones will work fine.
